Trade body Eventia today announces that its annual conference, known as 'The Summer Eventia', will take place in Brighton between 5-7 July 2009. Brighton was chosen following a tendering process through which bids from a number of venues and destinations to host the conference were assessed. The venue for the conference will be announced shortly.
'The Summer Eventia' is establishing itself as one of the key educational and networking events in the UK's conference calendar. In 2008 the event attracted 250 attendees to The Lowry Hotel in Manchester. Eventia plans to build further on the success of last year's conference and will be working closely with the Visit Brighton conference team to ensure a memorable event.
Commenting on their success in attracting 'The Summer Eventia' to Brighton, Julia Gallager, convention bureau manager for Visit Brighton, said: "We are really pleased to have been selected as the host destination for this major industry event, and look forward to showcasing all that the city has to offer."
Izania Downie, Eventia CEO, said: "We are delighted to be holding our 2009 conference in Brighton, the first time that we've taken the event to a seaside resort destination. Brighton has demonstrated a very successful track record in hosting association conferences and conventions, and we have every confidence that the venue and destination, working in close partnership with Eventia's conference planning team, will enable us to deliver an enjoyable, professional and must-attend event."
She added: "The challenges, issues and opportunities facing the events industry at the present time provide an imperative for our members to come together to share experiences, to learn from one another, and to be motivated and inspired by the industry experts who will be speaking at our plenary and workshop sessions. But we also plan to have fun and enjoy each other's company, and we'll be doing our very best to offer the right balance between leading-edge education and information sessions and social networking in relaxed, informal settings."
