Education Committee

A core focus for Eventia is its involvement in a range of education, training and continuing professional development initiatives for the benefit of its members and for the wider events industry and this is the role of the Education Committee.

Eventia’s education programme features a major annual conference (known as ‘The Summer Eventia’) and a series of mostly one-day seminars and courses based on three interlinking themes and also offered at a variety of levels:

• Events in Action (ie. the full spectrum of knowledge and skills needed for professional event management)
• Sales in Action (looking at a variety of topics around sales and marketing aspects of the events industry)
• Business in Action (dealing with issues relating to successful business management with specific reference to events, such as health and safety, sustainability, accessibility, risk management)

The Education Committee also work closely with industry and academia, and are establishing a ‘University Initiative’ designed to encourage and facilitate the building of links between industry practitioners, lecturers and the student community.

Continuing professional development (CPD) is also widely seen as essential if the events industry is to gain the recognition it desires and deserves, and the Educations Committee is playing a lead role in the establishment of a CPD programme for the sector, working closely with other industry bodies.
