Marketing Services Director’s Blog: May 2009

While the cats away the mice have been playing....

Izania will be back from hols this week so I thought I’d steal a bit of limelight while I have the chance and give some blog in her absence!

This month we have had an incredibly busy time including an office move! We are now ensconced in our new home and very happy we are too (don’t mention the basement!). Therefore, please note our new address – and yes it is just two doors away! All other contact information stays the same!

The new website is on the threshold of going live – we’re just testing and tweaking to ensure it is as user-friendly, action-packed and groovy as possible! Obviously we’ll shout from the rooftops when it’s ready but keep checking and let me know what you think!

The Summer Eventia is going to be bigger, bolder and even more thought-provoking than last year’s highly acclaimed event. TSE last year was my first and it blew my socks off! I strongly urge all of you to attend, especially with the economic doom and gloom we are constantly reminded of. We are lucky to have a repeat focused address from Roger Martin-Fagg, a renowned economist. Roger will provide his views on the future of the economy and forecast the climate for the next 12 months. Raising eyebrows at last year’s conference, Roger forecast a down-turn of the economy (yes really!), recommending companies take urgent action to avoid this outcome. The words ‘cash is king’ still echo through my mind! I for one can’t wait to hear Roger’s predictions, and am thrilled that he will be updating us fully during the opening address of this year’s conference!

You’ll be receiving a campaign of eblasts shortly encouraging you to attend, so brace yourselves. The Summer Eventia will once again provide a mix of educational, networking and social activities designed to inspire, inform and entertain event professionals at every level within your organisation. On the first day of The Summer Eventia one of our interactive discussion groups by sector, will aim to discuss and identify ‘winning’ tactics to help businesses stay afloat in the current climate and discuss preparations for the rise of the economy. All good stuff I’m sure you’ll agree.

In an on-going initiative to drive and encourage CSR throughout the industry, the Monday night ‘dinner’, as it usually is, will take on a different form, and delegates will participate in a CSR-related activity in the Brighton community in a bid to ‘Brighten up Brighton!’

TSE Credit Crunch Offer - new for 2009 we are delighted to introduce a credit crunch offer. This offers partner members the opportunity to bring along a client at a spectacularly reduced rate as a hosted guest. For just £550 + VAT you will receive two registrations - one for you and one for you favourite buyer. See the new web pages for more info.

You’ll all be familiar with our gorgeous new branding and the new website will be the jewel in the crown! We have also developed some sub-brands for our education and training program me, Events in Action, Sales in Action and Business in Action. And again we’ll be actively e-blasting and encouraging as many bookings as possible. We strongly believe that now more that ever we need a well trained, motivated and inspired workforce to keep events at the forefront of the marketing mix and our programme of E&T will do just that!

Right, that’s me all blogged-out! I’m off to the basement to ‘deal’ with another box!

Yours,

Tracy
